ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) - Traffic was slowed Monday afternoon after multiple crashes - one of which was fatal - on Interstate 69 outside of Fort Wayne. Around 3 p.m., officers with the Allen County Sheriff's Department responded to a motorcycle crash in the northbound lanes near the 319 mile-marker. That's by Hursh Road on the north side of the county. A woman riding the motorcycle was pronounced dead after the crash, according to Sgt. Adam Griffith with the sheriff's department. Debris from a crash on I-69 A tire came off a semi-truck that was in a southbound lane, Griffith said, and the tire went through the grassy median to the northbound lanes, somehow leading to the motorcycle crashing. Investigators are working to determine the details. In a second crash, multiple vehicles collided around the 317 mile-marker, and three people were sent to the hospital with serious injuries, police said. According to the Indiana Department of Transportation, the northbound lanes were shut down two miles north of Fort Wayne, near Union Chapel Road.
