COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster continues to update the state on recovery efforts from Hurricane Helene. The governor confirmed the death toll from the storm in the state stands at 48. Governor McMaster says 23 counties in South Carolina are eligible for personal and public FEMA aid. In the Midlands those counties include; Saluda, Newberry, Richland, and Lexington. The Department of Public Health announced it has established a Hurricane stress hotline for anyone just needing someone to talk with about the stress brought on by the storm. That number is 1-800-985-5990. Governor McMaster, as well as SCEMD Director Kim Stenson said they are monitoring Hurricane Milton which at this time is not forecast to impact South Carolina.
