(COLORADO SPRINGS) — On Monday, Oct. 7, Mayor Yemi Mobolade presented a balanced 2025 City budget to the City Council focusing on public safety, city cleanup, and addressing issues surrounding homelessness. The proposed budget for 2025 would be $440,037,344, a 2.7% increase from 2024. The Mayor said while sales taxes are expected to be higher, the increased revenue would not cover increased costs and is proposing keeping budget restrictions from 2024. Mayor Mobolade said the 2025 budget will continue to cap its property tax rate to provide relief to homeowners. Along with the property tax cap, there will also be funding for more police officers and department civilian personnel, continued funding for police and fire department apparatus replacements and homeless outreach programs, and increased compensation for police and fire sworn employees. A copy of the proposed 2025 budget can be found on the City's website and the public is invited to give their feedback on Monday, Oct. 21 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall.
