BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The City of Bakersfield has launched a podcast about some of the workings of the city. It's called "The Something Better Podcast." The podcast's first episode was released on Monday, Oct. 7. City officials say the podcast will feature topics such as key issues and vital services. The podcast's title take after the city's slogan "the sound of something better." The podcast is hosted by the city's Public Information Officer Joe Conroy. In the episodes, Conroy will converse with city leaders and staff. In a news release, Conroy said: We want to reach as many of our residents as we can, to find them where they are. Maybe that’s while they’re driving to work in the morning or on the way home in the evening. Maybe they want to have it on in the background while they’re at their desk, or while they’re on a jog. This is another way we want to tell our story, a way to connect with the people of Bakersfield and maybe let them know about things they didn’t realize we do for them every day. City of Bakersfield Public Information Officer Joe Conroy The podcast will be available on Spotify, iHeartRadio, Audacy, Amazon, Music/Audible and the City's YouTube Channel. The second part of the first episode is set to be released on Oct. 14.
