This recognition highlights Yoni’s honed musical instincts as well as his versatility to help bring out the best in another artist, but so does his significant list of outstanding collaborations with some powerhouse names in the industry. He spent years cutting his teeth touring and recording with pop star Nick Jonas as his lead guitarist, solidifying his reputation as a top-tier talent. His guitar work also caught the attention of other major talents, including Demi Lovato, the Jonas Brothers, and Skip Marley. After two years with Jonas, Yoni transitioned into musical directing, bringing his expertise to artists across the pop spectrum. His role as musical director for renowned acts like Jon Bellion, Quinn XCII, Chelsea Cutler, and Jeremy Zucker has been instrumental in the success of sold-out tours across North America, Asia, Europe, New Zealand, and Australia. At the young age of 17, Yoni gained recognition by receiving the Presidential Scholarship to Berklee College of Music in 2012. While attending Berklee, Yoni thrived under the guidance of renowned mentors, even teaching faculty members along the way. He was mentored by four-time Grammy winner Terri Lynne Carrington, an experience that shaped his musical journey. During this time, Yoni served as the musical director for Berklee’s annual Jazz Festival, where he directed ensembles for legendary artists Ledisi and Sheila E. After moving to Los Angeles in 2015, he soon made a big splash by producing innovative music and co-writing Cody Simpson’s breakout hit “Ramona.” Photo credit: Jonathan “Yoni” Asperil by Matt Geffen Yoni’s extensive experience on high-profile stages and television platforms—including performances on Jimmy Fallon, Ellen DeGeneres, and Good Morning America—has established him as a pro’s pro, the kind of artist you need for when you want something clean and cool done right. His session musician credits include notable tracks such as “Jersey” with the Jonas Brothers and “Remember I Told You” featuring Mike Posner. And if his musical finesse wasn’t enough, the man brings the stage presence to go along, something that undoubtedly makes him a star that can shine on his own or as part of a constellation. If his work with modern pop icons wasn’t enough, Yoni has also had the opportunity to get his signature up in Hollywood by contributing to a variety of film soundtracks. Some notable projects include “Uglydolls,” “Jingle Jangle,” and “The Greatest Showman: Reimagined.” His exceptional talent for understanding and adapting to various music genres has established him as a highly sought-after asset in both the recording studio and live performance. It seems that, wherever music is needed, Yoni proves to be right at home. Photo credit: Jonathan “Yoni” Asperil by Matt Geffen Looking ahead, Yoni is poised to keep charging full steam ahead. With his recent Grammy nomination being just the latest badge of honor for one who is going to be a key figure in shaping what the next half of this decade and beyond will sound like, and a track record of successful collaborations, he’s set to continue pushing the boundaries of music production. As he embarks on new projects, there’s no telling just where we’ll meet him next, the only certainty is that we’ll be hearing a lot more from and of him soon.
