WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- Seating in Dupont Circle should be more plentiful after Monday when crews began working to replace benches that people living and visiting the neighborhood found in disrepair for months.
Mike Litterst, Chief of Communications, National Mall and Memorial Parks, said the National Park Service partnered with the Dupont Circle BID and Helmets to Hardhats (H2H) to make what many would agree were long overdue repairs to the benches.

Litterst said the BID provided $10,000 to buy supplies and materials, including a specific type of fir used for the wood slats. Helmets to Hardhats, which helps transition military members into civilian careers in the building trades, provided the labor.
