LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Chilly night and pleasant afternoon, it’s as simple as that. That is your forecast this week. A cold front swept through the area last night and that has dropped our temperatures to a more fall-like feel after a very warm weekend. You can expect afternoon highs to struggle to get out of the upper 60s today, marking what will likely be the coolest afternoon of the week. Temperatures tonight will drop into the low-to-mid 40s. You can expect 40s for overnight lows all week as well. Afternoon highs climb a bit Tuesday into Wednesday, potentially peaking near the mid-70s by Wednesday. Temperatures drop a few degrees on the thermometer late week. Afternoon highs on Thursday will likely stay near 70s, while Thursday night into Friday has the potential to be the coldest night of the entire week, with some mid-to-upper 30s possible in the valleys. Here in Lexington we should stay in the low 40s. The weekend will feature warmer temperatures as afternoon highs return to the mid-to-upper 70s. Our next rain chance looks like it will be at the earliest late Sunday into Monday. Even that chance looks to be low. No widespread heavy rain appears to be in the forecast over at least the next 7-10 days. There could be another shot of chilly air early next week though, so keep that in mind.
