A coalition of community groups will host a public forum for community members to learn about the candidates running for the Jersey City Board of Education in the November 5, 2024 general election. The event will take place from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on October 8, 2024 at Franklin L. Williams School – MS 7, 222 Laidlaw Avenue, Jersey City. The forum will feature seven of the eight candidates, representing two slates, along with two independents.Moderators will guide a discussion covering a range of topics, including the budget, school development, and community engagement. The event is open to the public and will be live-streamed on Facebook. Questions may be submitted ahead of the event.Brigid D’Souza, a licensed CPA, former Assistant Professor at Saint Peter’s University, and author of the Civic Parent blog, will give an overview of the Board, including its roles and responsibilities.The coalition of community groups includes:● Heights Community Coalition● Riverview Neighborhood Association● Washington Park Association of Hudson County● The Knitty Gritty JC Social Club● Journal Square Community Association● Leonard Gordon Park Conservancy● Pershing Field Neighborhood Association● JC Heights Parents● Sgt.
