FISHERS, Ind. — A Fishers man, and former reserve police officer, has been charged after reportedly raping a woman that he went to rehab with. Marcus Gregory Sparks Jr., 33, was charged with the following: Three counts of Rape, a Level 1 Felony Criminal Confinement, a Level 3 Felony Two counts of Domestic Battery, a Level 5 Felony Intimidation, a Level 5 Felony Strangulation, a Level 6 Felony Domestic Battery, a Level 6 Felony Resisting Law Enforcement, a Class A Misdemeanor Hamilton Co. Community Correction employee charged with rape Marcus Gregory Sparks Jr. Officers from the Fishers Police Department were dispatched on Sept. 27 to the 13600 block of Kingston Dr. on a report of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival at the home, which was an Airbnb, Sparks opened the door and officers noticed that he had slurred speech and red eyes. Officers documented this as a sign of intoxication. Officers attempted to speak with Sparks, but he reportedly resisted which led to his initial arrest and transport to the Hamilton County Jail. At the jail, a breath test was administered to Sparks. His results returned with a "0.311 BAC." For reference, anything above 0.08 is considered above the legal limit. Due to the dangerous nature of his results, he was transported to an area hospital. When officers spoke to the victim about what happened she said that he attacked her with a spatula and, "he literally choked me until I passed out." The victim was able to point out severe bruising. Further, the victim described that Sparks shoved a knife inside her. The victim claimed that Sparks told her that she was going to die and that he said, "I own you." According to court documents, the victim also described how Sparks held a knife to her throat. Although he did not cut her throat, he did allegedly take her car keys which prevented her from leaving. When police were able to finally speak with Sparks he reportedly confessed and said, "I didn't hurt her on purpose." He continued saying, "She grabbed the knife and told me to shove it down her throat, and you know what, I did!" Upon further investigation, the victim said that she met Sparks in a rehab for addiction which developed into a dating relationship. Clermont police told FOX59/CBS4 that Sparks was a reserve officer for the Clermont Police Department approximately five years ago. This is an active investigation.
