MUNCIE, Ind. -- A Muncie man who was previously arrested after he allegedly killed his ex-wife last year has been charged after he reportedly set fire to a Winchester home before she was killed. According to court documents filed in Randolph County in late September, Ceaser Lewis Curtis was charged with two counts of arson, each a Level 4 felony, in relation to an incident in March 2023. In September 2023, Curtis was arrested in relation to the death of 46-year-old Marcia Curtis. The remains of Marcia Curtis were found on Sept. 14, 2023, on an abandoned property after she was initially reported missing on Sept. 6, 2023. Ceaser Curtis was arrested on Sept. 14, 2023, on a murder charge after the family of Marcia Curtis told police that he was the last person to see her alive. This comes after Marcia Curtis filed for divorce in December 2022 and was formally dissolved in March 2023. When officials arrived, they found minor damage to the exterior of the home from the fire, which officials said began on the southwest corner of the home. The occupant of the home, later identified as Marcia Curtis, said the court date for her divorce was the following day, March 28, 2023. She told police at the time that she was asleep when the fire occurred and was "sure" that Ceaser Curtis had set fire to the home. Marcia Curtis told officials that Ceaser Curtis had "done other actions of violence and vandalism (in the past) such as shooting out her vehicle window." She also told officials that "he was convicted of arson in the late 1990s." Court documents stated that a garden sprayer pump bottle reportedly had gasoline in it. The bottle reportedly had DNA on it that linked back to Ceaser Curtis. According to court documents, Curtis' murder trial is scheduled for Dec. 2 in Delaware County. Curtis' pretrial conference is scheduled for Oct. 30. No dates have been set related to Curtis' arson case in Randolph County.
