DRISCOLL, ND (KXNET) — Cattle that escaped from a pasture near I-94 early Monday morning resulted in three crashes on the interstate near Driscoll. According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, an unknown amount of black cattle got out of a pasture around 1:00 a.m., October 7 and congregated on I-94 under the exit 190 overpass. A semi driven by a 57-year-old Edmore man, hauling refrigerated produce and traveling east on the interstate, crashed into the cattle, entered the median and overturned. The driver was not injured. Then, a car driven by a 26-year-old Napoleon woman, heading east, also struck the cattle. The driver was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Finally, a third vehicle driven by a 41-year-old Bigelow, Minnesota woman, with three young passengers, also hit the cattle. All the occupants of the car were taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. In all, 25 cattle were killed in the crashes. Both lanes of I-94 under exit 190 were obstructed by cattle and vehicles. It took about four hours the clear the roadway and re-open the interstate in the area. Close Thanks for signing up!
