West Baton Rouge deputy accused of fuel theft fired, arrested

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) -- A West Baton Rouge deputy accused of stealing fuel for his personal car was fired and arrested.
The West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office said it was notified of a potential theft after an employee was seen fueling his personal car at a parish-operated gas pump on Sunday, Oct. 6.
Joshua Dangerfield, 18, was arrested and charged with malfeasance in office and theft after an investigation. According to WBRSO, Dangerfield was assigned as a transportation driver at the work release facility.
The sheriff's office said Dangerfield had been employed since June 2024 and was released from jail on an $11,500 bond.
