ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It may not be in Munich, but a local brewery put a spin on the popular German festival celebrating Bavarian culture, food, and beer this weekend. The Albuquerque Oktoberfest was held at Rio Bravo Brewing Company on Second Street near I-40. Organizers said the festival usually takes place the first weekend of Balloon Fiesta, not only offering fiesta-goers a taste of Germany but a taste of Albuquerque brews. The brewery's kitchen also catered to the event, offering German favorites like bratwursts and pretzels. "We're having our Oktoberfest. It's our 9th year being open, so we did kind of a collab with Oktoberfest and our anniversary. We're making it a big celebration," said Jennifer Baker with Rio Bravo Brewing. This year's Oktoberfest in Munich kicked off on September 21 and wrapped up on Sunday.
