NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A warm and dry start to the week is expected across the region, with temperatures climbing into the upper 80s to around 90 degrees and plenty of sunshine. A cold front moving across the region will send a shot of cooler and drier air down to the Gulf Coast. High temperatures will fall to the low and mid 80s Tuesday through the end of the week with overnight lows in the 60s south and 50s north. Steered by the approaching cold front, Hurricane Milton is expected to head toward Florida by Tuesday or Wednesday, likely as a major hurricane. While there may be some breezy conditions and minor coastal flooding in our area, the main impacts from the storm will stay well offshore. Winds out of the north will help pull in drier air, bringing dew points down further into the 50s and possibly the upper 40s in some areas, particularly locations north of Lake Pontchartrain, during the second half of the week.
