BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — Governor Doug Burgum plans on surveying the damage and firefighting efforts tomorrow morning. He is going on an aerial tour around Mandaree and Ray. Governor Burgum is providing help with the firefighting efforts under the statewide fire emergency declaration he issued on Thursday. We're told the North Dakota Forest Service, the state Department of Emergency Services and our National Guard have mobilized resources to assist local, state and tribal firefighters. Earlier, Governor Burgum issued this statement, "The state continues to mobilize all available resources to assist local, tribal and federal agencies in protecting lives and property." It went on to say, "We're deeply grateful for the incredible heroics of the firefighters, emergency managers and others working around the clock to control and extinguish these blazes. The safety of our citizens is our top priority, and we urge residents to remain vigilant and heed all evacuation orders and warnings."
