Fire in Frederick County home leaves 1 dead, causes $100,000 in damages

FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- Frederick County Fire and Rescue Services said a person died after a fire broke out at a home on Saturday, Oct. 5.
Police said that at about 9:10 p.m., the Frederick County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call of a reported house fire in the 11000 block of Highland School Road in Myersville.
When crews arrived, they found a mobile home with extensive fire showing.
Crews were informed that the home was potentially occupied and immediately went to work to extinguish the fire and search for any occupants.

Responders found a person inside the home and removed them. Despite receiving medical care from emergency personnel, the person died there.
Frederick County Fire and Rescue Services said it took about 20 minutes for about 35 firefighters to bring the fire under control.
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is not releasing the name of the victim until the next of kin is notified.
First responders said there was no damage to any other structures, and no injuries were reported.
The damage is estimated to be at $100,000, according to officials.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
