TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Troopers with the Louisiana State Police are investigating a crash that left a Hammond woman dead in Tangipahoa Parish on Sunday, Oct. 6. The LSP reported that troopers responded to a crash involving a pedestrian on Interstate 55 near Louisiana Highway 16 around 6:45 a.m. Motorcyclist killed after falling over guardrail in Metairie crash LSP officials said an initial report shows that 29-year-old Cierra Porche was driving a Saturn north in the left lane of Interstate 55 while a Ford was heading north in the right lane. The Saturn then reportedly crossed into the right lane and hit the back of the Ford, causing it to stop in the median. LSP officials said the Saturn stopped in the ditch of the northbound right lane. After the crash, troopers said Porche got out of her vehicle and began to walk to the median from the right side of the road before emergency personnel got to the scene. Crews discover body following Gentilly fire Porche then left the median and began walking into the left lane of Interstate 55 when LSP officials said a GMC driving north in the left lane then hit Porche. Porche suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the GMC was uninjured. According to the LSP, "Impairment is not suspected on the part of the GMC driver who provided a breath sample of .000g%." LSP officials said the investigation is ongoing, and routine toxicology samples were collected.
