NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — More than 2,000 Entergy New Orleans customers were briefly without power after a Mylar balloon caused an outage on Sunday, Oct. 6. According to a social media post from the New Orleans City Council Utilities Committee, about 2,150 customers near Washington Avenue, Milan, St. Mary and Tchoupitoulas streets were impacted by the outage around 1:15 p.m. Oktoberfest to return to New Orleans’ Bayou St. John The post states that Entergy reported that power has since been restored to the area around. According to the City Council Utilities Committee, Entergy New Orleans "reports that interference with a Mylar balloon caused the outage." On Aug. 7, Entergy New Orleans reported that a Mylar balloon caused a power outage at a Carrollton water plant, leading to a boil water advisory for the entire East Bank of New Orleans and Algiers Point.
