Presidential historian and award-winning author Douglas Brinkley will be the featured speaker at the University of Kentucky’s annual Wendell H. Ford Public Policy Lecture Tuesday. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Singletary Center for the Arts and is free and open to the public. Ron Zimmer is director of the Martin School of Public Policy and Administration, which is hosting the lecture. “We feel lucky to have him. He’s been in high demand and been on MSNBC and CNN and so far so forth in this presidential cycle, we thought he could bring a perspective to this presidential election. It’s an interesting one.” Zimmer called this year’s presidential election “interesting” for several reasons. “We have a former president running for president again. We have a president that dropped out midsummer. You have a vice president stepping in.
