CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) - On Sunday, the Chatham Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) entered Operating Condition (OPCON) 4, the Monitoring Phase, as Tropical Storm Milton approaches the United States. The path and potential impacts to Chatham County from the storm remain uncertain at this time. Current forecasts models have Milton on a path towards Florida and intensifying into a Hurricane.  CEMA says they will continue to monitor changes to the forecast track and ensure storm related information is shared. Tropical Storm Milton expected to become hurricane on Sunday: NHC All residents are encouraged to monitor the storm as it develops over the next several days. According to CEMA, now is a good time to review personal emergency plans and replenish or create your emergency kit. As a common practice, individuals, families, and businesses are encouraged to review general storm preparation activities: Monitor local authorities for advice and protective actions. Prepare or inspect your emergency supply kit, and do not forget your pet’s kit too. Document important belongings and consider taking pictures or video of your home. Inspect your property for loose, lightweight items that could become airborne.
