Isaac Vitela passed for 138 yards and two touchdowns and added 64 yards and one score on the ground as Redlands East Valley defeated crosstown rival Redlands 31-21 in a Citrus Belt League opener Friday night. Redlands East Valley (1-5) claimed the Smudge Pot Trophy for the first time since 2021. Nathen Lopez ran for 164 yards and a touchdown and also caught five passes for 99 yards and a touchdown for the Wildcats. HIGHLIGHTS FROM OTHER GAMES Citrus Valley 38, Yucaipa 26: Dominic Robles completed 17 of 21 passes for 282 yards and four touchdowns as the Blackhawks rallied to win a Citrus Belt League opener Friday. Citrus Valley (1-4) outscored Yucaipa 24-2 in the second half. Sebastian Carillo had a pair of touchdown catches for the Blackhawks. Logan Barbour ran for 114 yards and two touchdowns to lead Yucaipa (4-2). Linfield Christian 42, Maranatha 35: Micah Little ran for 159 yards and three touchdowns as the Lions won their Mesquite League opener Friday. Little scored the game-winning touchdown in the final minute. Thomas Paschal threw two touchdown passes and added a score on the ground for Linfield Christian (2-3). San Jacinto 49, Tahquitz 3: Jaylen Patterson passed for 162 yards and two touchdowns and added 105 yards and four scores on the ground as the Tigers cruised to victory in their Mountain Pass League opener Friday. Jomini Ransom ran for 77 yards and a touchdown for San Jacinto (4-3, two losses by forfeit). Hemet 40, Riverside Poly 26: Draven Lopez threw touchdown passes to four different receivers as the Bulldogs won a Sunbelt League opener Friday. Drew Neal added two touchdowns on the ground for Hemet (6-0). Great Oak 50, Corona 0: Ryder Smith ran for three touchdowns as the Wolfpack won a Big West Conference-Southern Division opener Thursday. Mikey Vasquez returned two punts for touchdowns, his fourth and fifth kick returns for scores this season. Reagan Ricken threw a pair of touchdown passes for Great Oak (2-4). Murrieta Mesa 24, Temecula Valley 21: Julian Williams recovered a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown in the final minute as the Rams won a Big West Conference-South Division opener Thursday. Deshawn Reid had a pair of interceptions, returning one for an interception. Trey Gamble threw for 273 yards and a touchdown for Murrieta Mesa (2-4). King 35, Santiago 20: Brian Robinson ran for 219 yards on 32 carries and scored two touchdowns as the Wolves won their Big West Conference-South Division opener Thursday. Noah Villareal added 89 yards and two touchdown on the ground for King (5-1). Chino 54, Walnut 24: Maximus Barroso passed for 266 yards and three touchdowns and added two scores on the ground as the Cowboys won a Hacienda League opener Friday. CJ Gibson caught seven passes for 141 yards and two touchdowns, and Jair Davis finished with eight receptions for 123 yards. Raymond Chia ran for 123 yards and a touchdown for Chino (1-5). Norte Vista 28, Patriot 21: King Butler caught a touchdown passes and had the interception that sealed the victory as the Braves won their River Valley League opener. Julian Sandoval caught nine passes for 185 yards and three touchdowns for Hillcrest (5-1). Big Bear 50, Western Christian 14: Isaiah Ramirez ran for 141 yards and two touchdowns as the Bears won a Mesquite League game Friday. It marked Big Bear’s first on-campus home game. Brennen Berge ran for 162 yards and threw a touchdown pass. Aiden Brewer also scored two touchdowns for Big Bear (5-1, 2-0). Perris 48, Lakeside 30: Ryan Arredondo threw three touchdowns passes to lead the Panthers to victory in an Inland Valley League opener Friday. Robert Jones caught two touchdown passes, and Chibuzze Ubatuegwue added two scores on the ground for Perris (5-1). Moreno Valley 21, Citrus Hill 20: Syree Matthews passed for 141 yards and a touchdown and added 95 yards and one score on the ground as the Vikings won an Inland Valley League opener Friday. Tre Williams ran for 127 yards and a touchdown, and Johnny Robinson had six catches for 107 yards and a touchdown for Moreno Valley (4-2). Carter 58, Notre Dame 0: Ryder Carson passed for 224 yards and two touchdowns and added a score on the ground as the Lions won a Skyline League opener Friday. Jaykob Henley returned an interception for a touchdown for Carter (3-2). San Gorgonio 40, Montclair 0: Jacob Russell threw for 271 yards and three touchdowns as the Spartans won a nonleague game Friday. Anthony Rucker scored once on the ground and also returned an interception for a touchdown for San Gorgonio (5-0). Gio Visco caught four passes for 88 yards and two touchdowns and also had a 28-yard scoring run. Matthew Silvay rushed for 66 yards and three touchdowns for CSDR (5-0). Ontario 34, Pomona 7: Samuel Abajuo ran for 166 yards and two touchdowns as the Jaguars won a Montview League opener Thursday. De’jon Johnson ran for a touchdown and also had an interception on defense for Ontario (1-5). Santa Rosa Academy 41, Riverside Prep 12: Daniel Marlow ran for three touchdowns and also threw a touchdown pass as the Rangers won a Cottonwood League opener Friday. Dominic Vicente-Thomas scored two touchdowns for Santa Rosa Academy (5-1). Hamilton 55, Nuview Bridge 0: Joey Rayas ran for two touchdowns and also caught a touchdown pass as the Bobcats cruised in a Manzanita League game Friday, Kaidin Johnson added a pair of scoring runs for Hamilton (3-3, 3-0).
