COVENTRY, R.I. (WLNE) — The Coventry Police Department said the public should be aware of a scam in which a caller poses as a member of the department. The caller will tell victims that they need to speak to them about a “pressing legal matter.” They also appear to be using a spoof number and have set up a voicemail similar to the department’s.
