Oktoberfest to return to New Orleans' Bayou St. John

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Oktoberfest is heading back to the banks of Bayou St. John for three weekends of German food, beer, live music and more.
According to Deutsches Haus, Oktoberfest will take place on Oct. 11 and 12, Oct. 18 and 19 and Oct. 25 and 26 at Bavaria on the Bayou at Deutsches Haus.

Festival organizers said attendees can expect a variety of authentic German foods, live music, dancing, a German group sing-along and German bier.
According to a news release, food and drink options will include two tons of German sausage, 2,000 pounds of German potato salad, 445 gallons of sauerkraut and purple cabbage, 200 pounds of German cheese, 5,625 pretzels,1,000 German pizzas, 35 gallons of mustard, 500 kegs of beer, 600 bottles of wine, 5,000 shots of Schnapps, 22 flavors of Schnapps and 20 German beers.
In addition to food and music, festivalgoers can also look forward to Volkstümliche Musik and a beer stein holding contest.

According to the festival website, a 6K run with a route from the festival will be held on Oct. 12, and a dog parade will be held on Oct. 19.
Oktoberfest will span across three weekends at 1700 Moss St., on Fridays from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m.
