ST. CLOUD, Wis. (WFRV) - Saturday was the annual Plow Day at the Meinert's family farm in St. Cloud, where numerous area farmers brought their tractors and plows to plow a field and have a good time. The founder of the event, Dave Meinert, passed away in March, so this years' event was special. Bergstrom Automotive raises over $40,000 for breast cancer research during ‘Drive for a Cure’ event "Our dad, my dad, Henry’s brother, got randomly sick and passed away on April 11 of this year, so we started the morning with a parade at Henry's place, past Johnsburg, where dad owned some land, then through Mount Calvary, and then past the home farm here in St. Cloud in remembrance of him," explained Brooke Meinert, one of Dave's daughters. Dave Meinert and his brother Henry started the community event years ago because they grew up farmers, proud of their roots. In light of that, the Meinert Family spread his ashes in one of their fields across from the farm during the event. "Anybody who wants to plow or enjoys watching tractors plow just shows up and they can just watch it," said Jacki Meinert, Dave's widow. "It’s just a camaraderie thing. People share tractors and jump on each other tractors just for the experience." Meinert also highlighted that the event is for the entire family to come out, saying they have had people who are either 90-years-old or one-year-old to watch something they have done their whole lives. "Just the fact that all these people are here today, having fun with their tractors and the plows, are also the same people that have been here since March 14, helping us with the farm work and keeping us all supported." The Meinert's host the event every year in the fall, either in September or October. The field and family farm is located at N8611 Pine Road in St. Cloud.
