BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Firefighters from the Kern County Fire Department responded to a reinforced commercial structure fire in east Bakersfield Saturday morning. A commercial fire in the 2000 block of Edison Highway forced Bakersfield and Kern County firefighters to respond to the heavy blaze Oct. 5. At 8:31 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to reports of heavy black smoke from a building and quickly reinforced the response. Crews arrived and Truck 41 deployed an aerial water stream to fight the flames which had breached the roof. No victims were found when firefighters searched the building, said KCFD Public Information Officer Jon Drucker. Two firefighters suffered minor injuries during the incident, one of them being transported to the hospital for evaluation. The cause of this fire is unknown and is currently being investigated.
