Suspects break display case, deploy fire extinguisher at Pentagon City mall, police say

ARLINGTON COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) -- The Arlington County Police Department (ACPD) said it is investigating after several suspects broke a glass display case and set off a fire extinguisher during a robbery at the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City on Saturday.
According to ACPD, officers responded to the report of shots heard in the 1100 block of S. Hayes Street at around 5:40 p.m.
The investigation found that no shooting occurred. According to police, four or five suspects broke a glass display case with a hammer and deployed a fire extinguisher during a robbery.
No one was injured.

In an update from police just after 7 p.m., officers were on the scene investigating. ACPD said there is no indication of an ongoing threat.
This robbery follows one that happened on Sept. 1 at the mall, where suspects also broke a glass display case and set off a fire extinguisher. The ACPD said that the Sept. 1 robbery is under investigation, and detectives will work to determine if the cases are linked.
