BROCKPORT, N.Y. (WROC) — The Golden Eagles dominated from start to finish, as Brockport took down St. John Fisher 35-0 to win Courage Bowl XIX. The win was the seventh straight in the Courage Bowl for Brockport. Isaiah Simmons had a pair of rushing touchdowns in the first quarter, his longest coming from 60 yards out. Simmons finished with 164 yards on 19 carries. Brockport led 14-0 at the end of the first quarter. Ben Gocella threw a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter, connecting with Brian Caldwell Jr. and Waterloo native Nolan Slywka. The Golden Eagles led 28-0 at the half. Gocella and Slywka connected for another touchdown in the fourth quarter to make it a 35-0 final. Gocella completed 11 of 19 attempts for 182 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception. Slywka had four receptions for 76 yards and two touchdowns. Mike Talbert Jr. and Malik Kelly recorded interceptions for Brockport's defense, which held St. John Fisher to less than 200 yards of total yards on offense. Isaiah Bretz had an interception for the Cardinals on defense. Brockport (3-1, 1-0) will travel to Hartwick College on Saturday, October 12th. St. John Fisher (1-3, 0-0) will travel to Hilbert College on the same afternoon. The Courage Bowl has grown into one of Camp Good Days' largest fundraisers since its inception in 2004. Campers serve as honorary coaches and cheerleaders for both teams.
