(KRON) – The Vallejo Police Department has arrested the suspect of a homicide that occurred last month, the department announced.  At 12:27 a.m. on Sept. 6, Vallejo PD responded to the intersection of Tennessee Street and Mare Island Way, where gunshots were reportedly heard. The officers saw the result of a solo car crash involving a 2005 white Honda Accord.  Police located a woman suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Police had to extricate the victim out of the Honda due to the sedan’s “extensive damage.” Carjacker drives wrong way on highway; 1 arrested: police The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. VPD detectives identified the suspect as 27-year-old Vallejo resident Omar David Molina Mendoza. Vallejo PD did not say the motivation for this homicide.  The Solano County District Attorney's Office has charged Mendoza with murder. VPD said Mendoza was already in custody at the county Jail on unrelated charges when he was charged.
