SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – The Disabled American Veterans Hospital Transportation Network in South Dakota provides free rides for veterans to VA medical appointments. Today, the organization received something special. A $57,000 check was presented this morning by the 727 Disabled American Veterans Charity Poker Run. This is the 20th year for the charity poker run that takes place in Brookings. "It's kind of kind of humbling and so forth, just to see the expressions in their face, because it kind of gives you an idea how important that money is to them," 727 DAV Charity Poker Run co-chair Bob Foster said. "You don't need to be a veteran to be a van driver. Anybody can do it," Foster said. "The only requirement is that you'll have to take a physical, that you're able to operate the vans and so forth. But they're always in tremendous need for people to help get the veterans to the VA appointments."
