PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) Atlantis Games & Comics are seeking to provide help for communities affected by Hurricane Helene. The comic book store is holding fundraising raffles with the first of the three being available now, containing $3,300 worth of items. 100% of the proceeds will go to four charities, including East Tennessee Foundation, United Way of Southwest Virginia, World Central Kitchen and United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County. Despite being robbed of over $17,000 in trading cards back in June, store owner Steve Matousek insisted he wanted to give back to victims of Helene. Previous Coverage: $17K worth of collectible cards stolen from Portsmouth business "If we were like a much younger store, it would've definitely probably crippled us, but we were lucky," said Matousek. "We had good insurance. It wasn't something that stopped day-to-day operations. We always like multiple times a year — we always try to do something with local charities."
