INDIANAPOLIS — A person was shot and killed on the near west side of Indianapolis Saturday afternoon. According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the 1200 block of North Tibbs Avenue just before 3 p.m. on a report of shots fired. While police were en route to the scene, 911 dispatchers told them a person may have been shot in the area. When law enforcement arrived at the scene, it located an adult male with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. IMPD reported that the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The Marion County Coroner's Office will help police determine the man's exact manner and cause of death. MCCO will also release the decedent's name once his family has been properly notified of his death. IMPD is still investigating the shooting. Police are asking those with information on the incident — particularly individuals who may have been near the scene of the shooting between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. — to contact detective Dustin Keedy at (317) 327-3475 or [email protected].
