The Latest Northeast Wisconsin Forecast from Storm Team 5... A cold front is dropping across the area today, with has added some cloud coverage but really ramped up winds, gusting to 30-35mph throughout the day. With a very dry ground, fire danger has remained high and will stay that way for much of the week with no rain chances. For tonight however, this front will spark scattered showers and storms during the evening as early as 8pm out west and lasting into the early overnight tonight. The better chance to see the rain however will be up across northern WI, with lower chances of rain south of Green Bay. Since this front is quite strong, any thunderstorm could pack a punch with stronger winds, quick downpours and possibly some small hail. However, widespread severe weather remains low. Rainfall amounts will be very low, around a hundredth of an inch, POSSIBLY reaching a tenth in the heaviest downpour. After the front passes, expect clouds to clear out quickly, leading to clear skies and temperatures falling into the 40s up north, 50s south. The wind will not taper off, but instead will turn to the NW and stay gusty up to 30mph. This will be good news as the Northern Lights are possible once again. Tomorrow will be a very fall like day, with sunshine in the morning giving way to cloud coverage in the afternoon. Areas off to our south will stay sunny all day long. With a NW wind still gusting over 30mph, highs tomorrow will be in the 50s up north and low to mid 60s for Green Bay and southward. Temperatures will drop into the upper 30s and low 40s, we will have to watch for a more widespread frost event Sunday night, We start off the work week sunny and still slightly breezy on Monday, but temperatures stay in the mid 60s until big ridge build and temperatures push the middle and upper 70s by weeks end. With no rain chances, fire danger will still be a concern.
