AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Temperatures on Saturday returned to the mid 90s with mostly sunny skies. Austin-Bergstrom International Airport topped out at 94° and Camp Mabry climbed to 93°. Our dry and warmer-than-average temperatures pattern continues for the near future in Central Texas. Overnight lows early Sunday morning will drop to the upper 60s in the Austin metro area with lows reaching the upper 50s/low 60s in the Hill Country. Sunday will deliver mostly sunny skies with a slight breeze out of the northeast at 5-10 mph. Temperatures will return to the 90s by the afternoon hours. 90s return on Sunday Our normal high temperature is 86°. A back door frontal boundary will move across Central Texas sometime on Tuesday which will drop dew points to comfortable levels. Overnight lows Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are forecast to drop into the lower 60s in Austin area. Dew points drop to comfortable levels The Climate Prediction Center forecast drier-than-normal and warmer-than-normal trends to continue into the second week of October. Keep in mind Austin hasn't had a measurable rainfall event since September 5th. Portions of Travis County are now in a level 1/4 drought (moderate, USDM). Checking the Tropics Tropical Storm Milton formed in the Western Gulf Saturday morning. Milton is expected to strengthen to a hurricane by Monday and is forecast to make landfall as a Major Hurricane (Category 3) on Wednesday to the Florida Gulf coast. Keeping an eye on Milton The biggest concern is significant storm surge for the Tampa Bay/ Fort Myers area.
