BOSTON (WWLP) - Karen Read is trying to delay a wrongful death lawsuit that was filed by John O'Keefe's family.  State House Spotlight: An awareness day, a celebration, and a swearing-in ceremony According to a motion filed Wednesday by Read's attorneys, she is trying to delay the lawsuit until after her criminal trial is complete. Read is accused of ramming into John O'Keefe with her SUV and leaving him for dead in a 2022 snowstorm.  The lawsuit blames the death of John O'Keefe on Read, as well as the bars that continued to serve her drinks, despite signs she was drunk. Her two-month trial ended in July when a judge declared a mistrial.  A second trial is scheduled for January 27th.
