CADDO PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — A trailer packed with drinking water and supplies from Caddo Fire District 5 headed out on Friday morning to the hurricane-ravaged area of Asheville, North Carolina. Fire District Five commissioner John Lorick is hauling the trailer in a diesel truck loaded with water for firefighters to wash their hands and bathe. He says the firefighters also requested items, including diapers, insulin, roofing nails, and gas cans. "A lot of those areas are isolated. They do not have drinking water. They do not even have water to wash their hands," said Lorick. "And we want to be supportive of them in the time of need because the more supportive we are of them the more they can help their citizens in the search and rescue." Lorick said the plan was to drive non-stop to North Carolina to get the supplies there as fast as possible. "I've talked to several of the departments up there today and they are all just so gracious about anyone that'll help in any way," said Lorick. "We know what we are doing is just a drop in the bucket, but we want to make sure we get our drop in." Lorick thanks the public, Music Mountain Water, Kroger, and Remax Realty for their generous donations.
