A Porter County sheriff’s deputy is on administrative leave after being arrested early Saturday for reportedly driving drunk, police said. Valparaiso Police pulled over Cpl. Robert Gosbin, a 17-year veteran of the department, around 2:23 a.m. Saturday in the area of U.S. 30 and County Road 250 West in Center Township, according to a release from Sgt. Ben McFalls, public information officer with the sheriff’s department. Gosbin was driving a 2016 Jeep sport utility vehicle when through the course of the traffic stop, the officer found probable cause that Gosbin was operating while intoxicated, McFalls said. According to online jail records, Gosbin, 44, of Valparaiso, was arrested on a Class A misdemeanor charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. “Corporal Gosbin was immediately placed on administrative leave and an internal investigation has begun,” McFalls said, adding that the department has no further information to release.
