SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR) -- The Vegas oddsmakers were predicting a lot of points and that's exactly what we saw Friday night. Sixty minutes wasn't enough to decide it. LeQuint Allen's fourth touchdown of the night was the difference as Syracuse edged UNLV in overtime 44-41. Syracuse scored a touchdown on its first two possessions, UNLV then responded with three straight touchdowns of its own. From there, it was a back-and-forth affair coming down to the fourth quarter. Tied at 31 midway through the fourth, Kyle McCord threw an interception at UNLV's six-yard line. The Rebels then went 94 yards in 10 plays to take a 38-31 lead with just under three minutes to go. SU responded with a game-tying drive. McCord hit Jackson Meeks with :23 seconds left in regulation from six yards out to knot the score at 38 and force overtime. UNLV got the ball first in the overtime. Fadil Diggs made a key stop on third down, forcing the Rebels to settle for a field goal. After benefitting from a roughing the passer call on third down, Syracuse scored on a short LeQuint Allen touchdown run to end it. Kyle McCord completed his first 11 passes of the game and finished 40-for-63 passing for 355 yards and three touchdowns. Allen found the end zone four times, with two rushing and two receiving touchdowns. Oronde Gadsden led the way from a receiving standpoint with 10 catches for 142 yards. This marks SU's first overtime win since beating Wake Forest in November of 2019. It's also the first time that Syracuse has beaten two ranked opponents in the same regular season since 2001. With the victory, the Orange improves to 4-1. Next up, is a trip to NC State next Saturday.
