Evacuation warnings were issued for some areas in Campo Friday afternoon after a brush fire in Mexico moved toward the U.S. border, officials said. Cal Fire firefighters were dispatched around 1:45 p.m. to monitor a fire burning in Mexico, southeast of Campo and the international border, Cal Fire Capt. Robert Johnson said. #Border74 [Update] The fire continues to remain within Mexico and is now approximately 50 acres in size. There is currently no active fire within the United States. A small spot fire had made it over the border in the early afternoon but was quickly extinguished. Johnson said the fire’s spread had slowed over the course of the afternoon. The evacuation warnings affect residents and business owners near Shockey Truck Trail and state Route 94, sheriff’s officials said. There is a wildfire burning near Shockey Truck Trail and Highway 94 in Campo in the southeastern portion of the county.
