Barricade following suspected carjacking in DC resolved; 2 in custody

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- Police said that two people were in custody after a suspected carjacking turned into a barricade situation in D.C. on Friday.
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said in a post around 4:50 p.m. that officers were responding to a barricade situation in the 2400 block of East Capitol St.

MPD said that the barricade started with a suspected carjacking. U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) officers were in the area and responded, arresting one suspect.
The other suspect was able to escape, which led to the barricade.
As of 7:25 p.m., the barricade had ended and the second suspect was in custody.
MPD said that there was never any threat to the Capitol.
