ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Empire State Development and Rochester Mayor Malik Evans have unveiled a new aqueduct design concept. City of Rochester breaks ground on aqueduct project Governor Kathy Hochul just committed an additional $4 million in state funding for the project. Titled "Aqueduct Reimagined," it's part of the nearly 7-year-old ROC the Riverway initiative. Officials said the plan is to transform the historic Erie Canal Aqueduct and Broad Street bridge into a destination that celebrates the history and culture of Rochester. Some details include pedestrian and bicycle waterfront connections on both sides of the Genesee River and removing the upper vehicular deck of the Broad Street bridge.
