ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — About 120 pairs of sneakers were given to local students in need this week. Primetime 585 partnered with Wegmans to distribute the shoes, and this week was a busy one for the groups, as they took to two different Rochester schools! Primetime 585 connects with local organizations to collect shoes for students in need After visiting Abraham Lincoln School No. 22 Thursday, Wegmans employees and Primetime 585 youth councilmembers visited Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School No. 9 Friday. "Kids walk into school with their head held a little higher, and they're a little bit more confident, a little more engaged in their studies when they have a new pair of shoes on, or a new shirt, and we get to be a part of that. In their academics and their confidence at school," said Christian Griffan, the Wegmans community engagement manager. Give Your Gear sports equipment drive Wegmans employees and Primetime have collected over 600 gently used and new pairs of shoes to give out throughout several counties.
