FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A new kind of vending machine, equipped with free life-saving products, is now available at Fresno State. The Wellness-to-Go vending machine provides free Narcan nasal spray and fentanyl test strips. It is also equipped with free COVID tests and free personal hygiene kits. In addition to free products, the vending machine also has pregnancy tests and various over-the-counter medications available for purchase. Since its Sept. 16 debut, the university says more than 320 different students have accessed the products, and 35 Narcan nasal sprays have been dispensed.  Why you should watch ‘Saving a Generation: The Fentanyl Crisis’ Fresno State says the health vending machine is a first for Fresno County school campuses. The Wellness-to-Go vending machine can be found on the first floor of the Resnick Student Union in the northwest corner of the building. According to the university, funding for the machine was provided by Anthem Blue Cross through the Central Valley Opioid Safety Coalition and in partnership with the Fresno Madera Medical Society; funding for the free harm-reduction and hygiene products has been made available through Associated Students Inc. and the Student Health and Counseling Center.
