White Bear Lake 24, Stillwater 17: Brian White ran for 141 yards on the ground, while Oluwatomi Animasaun hit Ben Lockwood for a pair of touchdowns as White Bear Lake (1-5) earned its first win of the season and, in turn, denied the Ponies (3-3) a share of the Metro East subdistrict title. Stillwater jumped out to a 14-3 lead in the first quarter after a pair of rushing scores from Emilio Rosario-Matias, who finished with 169 yards on the ground. But it was all Bears from there. Cretin-Derham Hall 37, Mahtomedi 7: Izaak Johnson threw for a pair of touchdowns as the Raiders (2-4) put themselves in a strong position to grab the top seed in the Class 5A, Section 4 playoffs. One of those touchdown tosses went to Isaiah Thom, who also ran in a score. Eagan 18, Farmington 10: Eagan (4-2) locked up what should be a No. 2 seed in the Class 6A playoffs by scoring the first 18 points of Friday’s bout. Quarterback Brooklyn Evans had a pair of rushing scores on the Wildcats’ homecoming. Hill-Murray 38, South St. Paul 7: Jackson Reeves and Xavier Daniels each had a pair of rushing scores for the Pioneers (5-1), while Reeves also tossed a 68-yard touchdown to Jacob Dornan. Nasir Robinson ran in the lone score for the Packers (2-4). Central 21, Minneapolis Southwest 13: Central (3-3) trailed 7-0 early in the contest, only to reel off 21 straight points. Quarterback Allan Lankfard threw for two scores and then ran one in from 16 yards out in the fourth to essentially put the game away. Anoka 14, Centennial 0: The Tornadoes (4-2) delivered a stout defensive performance to lock up what’s likely to be a No. 2 or No. 3 seed in the Class 6A playoffs. Anoka got on the board in the first with a 60-yard scoring strike from Peyton Podany to Afy Ibekwe, and then sealed the victory with a Zach Welch touchdown run in the fourth. Centennial (3-3) is still in contention for a first-round playoff home game. Roseville 55, Hopkins 35: Javon Minor scored five touchdowns — all in the second half. He ran for four scores over the final two quarters, while also returning a kickoff 74 yards for a score to led Roseville (3-3) to its third win of the season. Qwinten Hood also had touchdown runs of 52 and 48 yards for the Raiders, both in the first frame.
