AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Austin Police Department is asking for community members' help in tracking down the suspected vehicle involved in a July fatal auto-pedestrian crash in south Austin. The crash happened just before 1 a.m. on July 30 in the 1000 block of West William Cannon Drive, APD officials said in a Friday release. The vehicle involved in the crash fled the scene without calling police or rendering aid, the release said. Officials transported the pedestrian -- identified as Dustin A. Hughes, 43 -- to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. Police described the suspect vehicle as a white four-door pickup truck with a large black toolbox in the bed of the truck, along with amber-colored lights on the side mirrors. APD noted there might have been potential damage to the front of the truck as a result of the crash. Those with information related to the crash are asked to contact the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program online or by calling 512-472-8477. Tips can be made anonymously and police are offering a reward up to $1,000 for any information given that leads to an arrest.
