WASHINGTON COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- Maryland State Police (MSP) said Friday that a Georgia man was arrested in connection to a deadly multi-vehicle crash that happened in Hagerstown. MSP said 62-year-old Ray Pittman was charged with two counts of vehicular manslaughter, homicide by motor vehicle and two counts of driving while impaired for his involvement in the crash on Thursday evening. Shortly after 5 p.m., MSP troopers responded to the report of a five-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer on westbound I-70, west of Beaver Creek Road. Woman dies in 5-vehicle crash in Hagerstown Investigators said Pittman was operating the tractor-trailer and failed to slow down in heavy traffic when he hit the rear of a Ford, operated by 27-year-old Morgan Suter. The impact of the crash caused her Ford to strike the rear of a Buick, driven by 55-year-old Cheri Craigo, which then struck a Mercedes and a Honda, driven by 61-year-old Connie Monte. Craigo and Monte were taken to a hospital for treatment of their injuries. Suter, unfortunately, died at the scene. I-70 was closed for about five hours as crews investigated. MSP said this is an ongoing investigation. Pittman is being held without bond at the Washington County Detention Center.
