IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. (WROC) — In 2022, the Titus Tavern was at the center of a local debate: should be the building be kept as it is, as Jeremiah's tried to expand into the space? In the end, the preservation commission of Irondequoit voted to designate the building at 690 Titus Avenue as a landmark. With that, plans for Jeremiah's seemed to fizzle out, even after a 2023 lawsuit. But in the summer of 2024, William Boneberg, a realtor with Sotheby's, bought the building, and the five houses on the parcel. He told News 8 on the phone today that management of the Titus Tavern will stay the same, and they are working on a lease extension. Boneberg is rehabbing two of the vacant spaces in the building and has a tenant lined up for one in the old Cooper Deli space. All of the five homes on the parcel — which were part of the purchase — need varying degrees of work, according to Boneberg. He adds four will be residences for rent, and one will remain an office building. Throughout it all, Boneberg says he will work "shoulder to shoulder" with the town's preservation commission.
