ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — We did it! Our workweek is done as nightfall brings light rain showers behind a weak cold front slicing through the region. This system doesn't have much in terms of lift and moisture, so rain will taper by midnight with skies clearing out from there. So far, no sign the northern lights will dance tonight. That's more of a tomorrow night affair. UPDATE: NOAA adjusts timing for seeing the northern lights Saturday will be a stunner with abundant sunshine and high temperatures climbing into the 60s. Clear skies are expected to hold into the night. That, in conjunction with a lack of bright moonlight, will set us up for nearly ideal conditions for viewing the aurora should NOAA's forecast play out the way they think. Sunday start mostly sunny before westward clouds start to overspread the area into the afternoon. This is another cold front, one with a bit more bite to it. Downpours and even a few gusty thunderstorms should flare later in the afternoon. Those with outdoor aspirations should focus on the first 2/3 of the day to avoid wet weather. The MAJORITY of our weekend will be stunning. Saturday sunshine gives way to slowly encroaching cloud cover from the west later Sunday. We'll have rain & storms, but they should hold off until later in the afternoon/evening Sunday. pic.twitter.com/krmK9GYpXD— Eric Snitil (@EricSnitilWx) October 4, 2024 Behind that front, chilly air will settle in next week. By Tuesday, we're looking at highs in the 50s and overnight lows way down into the 40s. 8-Day Forecast
