PORTERVILLE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Two people were arrested following reports of several shots being fired in Porterville Friday morning, the police department said. Officers say they responded to the 1400 block of East Putnam Avenue for several shots heard being fired on Friday at 2:30 a.m. Police say officers located a vehicle occupied by 21-year-old Victor Castillo, the driver, and the passenger, 20-year-old Alexis Sanchez. Officers conducted their investigation and they say they determined Castillo was allegedly in possession of a semi-automatic rifle. Sanchez was found to be on probation for robbery and had an active felony warrant for his arrest, according to police. Police say Sanchez was detained and also found to be allegedly in possession of an un-serialized handgun with several live rounds. A records check was conducted on Sanchez and police say he was found to be a prohibited person from possessing firearms and ammunition. According to police, both Sanchez and Castillo were arrested and transported to the South County Detention Facility.
