TOPEKA (KSNT) - A local art gallery is celebrating Topeka’s vibrant Hispanic and Latino heritage with its very first field exhibit.
The Chicago Field Museum is loaning its "Celebration of Souls" display to Topeka which is now on display at the NOTO Arts Center. The exhibit inside the Morris Art Gallery showcases the "Dia de los Muretos" or the Day of the Dead, a holiday that honors lost loved ones.
Guests can learn about the symbolism of these traditions and how they are passed down to the next generation through artwork and displays.
"We also got some wonderful art on display from some Hispanic and Latino artists inside of our Red Bud room," said Staci Ogle from the NOTO Arts Center. "So, it's just a great exhibit overall, and I'm so excited that we were able to do this."
