The Arts Council of Park City & Summit County is getting a jump on the yuletide season with a call for local creators for its upcoming CREATE PC Holiday Makers Market. The pop-up, scheduled to run from Nov. 22 to Jan. 31, will be set up at CREATE PC, 1500 Kearns Blvd. F110, said Kendall Kelley, marketing and community relations manager.Applications are now open at pcscarts.org/holidaymakersmarket, and the deadline is Oct. 21. There is a $125 application fee, and when an applicant is accepted, the Arts Council will follow up with further details. Those who are selected will receive 85% of sales revenues, with 15% going to the Arts Council for rent, utilities, event activations, programming and daily operations, Kelley said.“We’re hoping to have around 50 creatives, depending on the types of submissions we get,” she said. “One of the things I want to point out is that this is not limited to the visual arts. We certainly have some art and fine art and things like that on those lines, but I think it would be fun to see some local producers, who may have jars of homemade tapenade or other nonperishable foods.”The amount of creative products coming out of Summit County astounds Kelley.“I cannot believe all the foods, clothing, accessories, jewelry and art,” she said. “There are a lot of people making hot sauces or toffee in their backyards, and I think people will be able to shop and find all of these things made here and not outside of Utah.”CREATE PC Holiday Makers Market is a little different from the holiday market the arts council has facilitated in the past, Kelley said.“Last year we had what we called our BRAND PC market that was held at the Outlets Park City (which is now called Junction Commons), but we now have our year-round established location at Kearns,” she said. “So, the holiday market will give makers a chance to focus on a little more variety and gift-centered items.”Having a permanent space for the market allows the arts council to extend its run, Kelley said.“It’s not concrete that we’ll close on January 31, but this is still our longest-running market,” she said. “In the past, we’ve only been able to run it through the month of December, so this year we can give quite a bit more time for our makers to benefit from sales, and that gives people a larger shopping window that leads up to the holidays.”The CREATE PC Holiday Makers Market is just one of the ways the Arts Council of Park City & Summit County can fulfill its mission to support local creatives by providing resources, cultivating connections and giving them a platform to exhibit and sell their works, said Kelley, who has worked at the nonprofit since May.“I love being part of getting the world to see what they have to offer and the variety,” she said. “I was drawn to the arts council because I wanted to do something that was more community centric. I wanted to do something that would give back to the community or something that was enmeshed in it and provide arts and culture and creatives to the community. And I have to say this has been above and beyond my expectations.” For information about the CREATE PC Holiday Makers Market and how to apply, visit pcscarts.org/holidaymakersmarket.The post Arts Council accepting applications for its Holiday Makers Market appeared first on Park Record.
